Hi! I'm Emma, and it's been the honour of a lifetime to serve as your City Councillor for Elmwood-East Kildonan since last fall's by-election.

Over these past months, I’ve worked hard to make connections and get to know people and community organizations in all parts of Elmwood-East Kildonan. Whether working with school parent committees to get their playground projects over the finish line, helping to improve housing and food security for seniors, or supporting youth recreation and job skills development, it has been so encouraging to see first-hand the ways that everyday people contribute to building a stronger and healthier community, and a privilege to be able to boost their efforts.

At the same time, my assistant, Charity, and I have been assisting residents with their questions and issues to the best of our ability, being responsive to their priorities and concerns, and doing all we can to connect each person who contacts our office with the appropriate information or department. 
 
While work within Elmwood-East Kildonan is a major part of my role, equally important is my voice at City Council. I have been working to support the decisions that benefit our ward, such as building more housing and maintaining our infrastructure, and to oppose the ones that will negatively impact us in the long run, like unaffordable road widenings.

In addition to my place on Council, I've been pleased to serve in these additional formal roles:

• Chair of the Winnipeg Food Council
• Member of the Winnipeg Public Library Board

On a personal note...

I live with my husband and our three school-aged kids in Elmwood. Prior to being elected in 2025, I was an active community advocate and volunteer, having played leadership roles with the Glenelm Neighbourhood Association, Chalmers Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation, Elmwood Business Coalition, helping to establish both Safe Speeds Winnipeg and the Trees Please Winnipeg Coalition, and serving on the parent council at my children’s school.  

As a settler on this land who has chosen to make this place my home, I see the ongoing harm caused by colonialism. I will seek opportunities to deepen my understanding of Indigenous Peoples’ experiences, cultures and teachings. I commit myself, in a good way, to lifelong work towards reconciliation through my thoughts, words and actions, with a spirit of respect and compassion. I am grateful for the stewardship that Indigenous Peoples have provided to this land over many thousands of years, and I commit myself to joining in this stewardship for the benefit of future generations. In June 2026, I was pleased to formalize this commitment by signing the Winnipeg Indigenous Accord at City Hall.
